A Place to Share

Have you ever been driving and as you go slowly turn up the music? Your favorite song comes on and at the moment it seems like the perfect volume. Then you start your car the next day and jump because the music is so loud it scares you. Do you know that feeling?

Lately, that’s how I’ve been feeling about social media. I’ve been cruising along not realizing how loud the noise has become until I shut it off and walk away. There are so many voices, so many opinions, so many people directing my attention this way or that, so many swipe ups and click heres. There are new algorithms and all the new trends to keep up with. It just feels like a lot lately. Maybe you are feeling this too?

All of this has really lead me reflect on how I want to share my work online and why I’m sharing. I don’t want to be just another voice creating extra noise. I also want time away from social media that allows me quiet space and hopefully even boredom. I recently listened to this podcast and I really resonated with so much of what was talked about. I have always found that boredom feeds creativity. So I’m creating some different boundaries for myself, in hopes that it will fuel my creativity in new ways.

I’m excited about sharing more of my weekly process here on my own page. My hope is that it becomes not only a creative outlet for me, but also a place you can come when you are looking for inspiration or connection. Think of this journal as an open invitation to come when the time is right for you.
